Lavender closes her eyes in present-day Chicago and wakes in 1867 Paris in someone else’s body. For years she’s slipped between eras, searching for a sense of belonging. When a man attacks her in the past, Lavender learns that her powers are growing and have drawn dangerous attention. Alone and confused, a hidden protector intervenes, and reveals that she’s a descendant of the Aevums—an ancient clan of Mystics whose powers were hidden away centuries ago.
